Duke Nukem is being remastered and remixed with new content

Fans of old-school first person shooters will be happy to know that a remake of Duke Nukem 3D is on the way.

That’s is according to a leak that was posted over on Reddit which has information about the game along with some screenshots. This rumor has some weight behind it given how there is currently a countdown clock on the official Duke Nukem website. We can’t say for certain if this rumor is legit, but all the evidence suggests that it certainly is.

The person who leaked this information to the Redditor in question says that the game, Duke Nukem 3D: World Tour, is a “remix” of the original game. It is being developed by Nerve Software — a studio that was founded by an ex-id Software developer. This game is supposedly a remix because it contains both original and new content. The post says that the game will have online co-op and deathmatch modes, though the leaker says he isn’t one hundred percent sure about this.

As you can see from the gallery below, this remake is graphically similar to the original Duke Nukem 3D. More screenshots are expected to be available once the official announcement is made next week.

Duke Nukem 3D‘s 20th anniversary is fast approaching so a remake + remix of the classic game is a smart move. Again, all of this is still a rumor, but it seems to be a well-founded one that is hard to dismiss. We do know that an announcement of some sort is happening in seven days so stay tuned for official news next week.
