Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders reunites 1960s show cast

You no longer have to worry about the quality of future Batman films, because the best crew is coming back. Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders may be an animated feature film but it features the voices of the original 1960s show cast: Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar.

As you can see in the fourth-wall breaking trailer below, Batman and Robin will be facing all the usual enemies. Of course Newmar will play Catwoman, and the dynamic duo will also fight the Joker, Riddler, and Penguin both “on Earth, and in space.” The fact that they do so after escaping from a massive TV dinner that’s on its way to a giant oven with a helpful sign reading “GIANT OVEN” above it only seals the deal.

Has there been a Batman actor who has enjoyed his Bat-tirement as much as West? It doesn’t seem so. The man just revels in the campiness of his most famous role, and even at 87 years old he’s still hamming it up.

Remarkably, the movie will celebrate West and Ward’s 50th anniversary with the series. They have voiced the characters before on animated shows such as on The New Adventures of Batman, but it’s great to have Newmar back as Catwoman. Rumors are that this might be one of two feature-length films in the works with the trio. Some days you just can’t get rid of a good cast.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders hits Digital HD on October 11 and Blu-ray on November 1. If this film is a success, can they team up with Scooby-Doo again?
