Star Wars: Rogue One casting rumor, Comic-Con exclusives, and is Mace Windu alive?

Another week is drawing to a close, meaning there’s a bunch of new Star Wars rumors to dive into…

Here’s a rumor we’re revising. A new listing for an actress named Valene Kane has appeared on her IMDB page for a character named Lyra Erso in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. You may remember the name Lyra Erso came up in January when it was found on a casting site and at the time it was thought it might be Jyn.  Kane was born in 1987 so she’s either playing a sister to Jyn or her mother in a flashback.

If you’re looking for more information on the upcoming Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, you’re going to want to look toward Star Wars Celebration Europe later this month. The “Future Filmmaker Discussion” panel at Celebration Europe is going to feature Kathleen Kennedy, Lucasfilm Story Group member Kiri Hart, Star Wars: Episode VIII director Rian Johnson, and Han Solo: A Star Wars Story directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord.

A similar panel at Star Wars Celebration 2015 gave us our very first tease of Rogue One and was slated to give us a look at the unnamed Boba Fett film before its director Josh Trank left the project. The panel in Anaheim was full of great insight and sneak peaks at the film, so you won’t want to miss the details from this one!

This one isn’t so much a rumor as much as wishful thinking on the part of veteran Star Wars actor Samuel L. Jackson. Twice this week while promoting his new film The Legend of Tarzan, Jackson has brought up the idea that his character Mace Windu did not die in Revenge of the Sith. And he says George Lucas is on his side. “George is like, ‘I’m okay with that. You can be alive.'”

Jackson’s interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio goes into more detail about his thoughts on what happened to Mace after that fateful duel with Darth Sidious. Might we see grizzled old Master Windu in Star Wars: Episode VIII? Jackson thinks there’s room to explore the idea.

With San Diego Comic-Con just a few weeks away major toy manufacturers are starting to debut their Comic Con exclusives and the Star Wars findings are starting to look great. So far fans have been going crazy for the Funko reveals.

On Wednesday Funko announced two of it’s Star Wars exclusives, including thumbs up BB-8 and Han Solo from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Furthermore on the Funko front, this image appeared on Instagram not too long ago showing some Gamestop pre-orders for POP! Vinyls including a few Rogue One selections and Qui-Gon Jinn:

Visit the San Diego Comic Con blog for more exclusives including Star Wars stuff from ThinkGeek and Gentle Giant!

If that’s not enough to wet your whistle, I’m hearing we might be getting info about Rogue One toy releases as early as next week.
