Foldimate is the laundry robot that will save you from tedious folding

Washing and drying your clothes is easy enough, but ironing and folding? Ugh. Thankfully, someone’s working on a laundry room robot that will save you from all that drudgery.

This, fellow geeks, is the future. Meet Foldimate, an automated system that can take your freshly dried clothes, steam out the wrinkles, fold them crisply, and pile them into a neat stack. All you have to do is clip in your shirts, towels, or pants, press a button to get the process started, and come back when Foldimate is finished so you can carry the stack and drop it into an empty drawer. Or just set it on the thing in your bedroom that looks like a weight bench but is actually just an oddly shaped clothing valet.

Foldimate does more than just de-wrinkle and fold. It can also sanitize and give your clothes a blast of fragrance. Like all clever new things, Foldimate will also come with built-in WiFi so that it can keep you up to speed on the state of your laundry.

Oh, and there will be DLC available for Foldimate, too. Yes, really. You’ll be able to purchase different folding patterns if you’re not happy with its default method.

Foldimate will sell for between $700 and $1150 depending on options, and their counter shows that nearly 90,000 people have registered for pre-ordering notifications. Signing up for an email alert is obviously not the same as throwing cash at a company, but it shows that there are plenty of people who like the thought of never folding their own clothes again.
