10 best iPad Pro games to make the most of your big screen tablet

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro now has a little brother, the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. Both are being promoted as big-screen devices ready to help you work harder. Great, but who really wants to use the gorgeous new iPad’s massive screen for spreadsheets and all the tedium that comes with it? Exactly, we want to play the very best games and dive into new worlds.

To make sure you don’t drown in a sea of productivity apps, we’ve gathered together some of the best iPad Pro games that showcase just how much fun the big 12.9-inch screen can be, that also work just as well on the newer 9.7-inch version.

Kingdom Hearts Unchained X

Square Enix teams up with Disney for this highly anticipated title, which is set at the beginning of the Kingdom Hearts story, crossing over between the Disney and Final Fantasy worlds through costumes, characters and scenarios. It’s a freemium title with a stunning look, but is a big download taking up more than 1GB of space.

Small World

The video game adaptation of the original board game comes into its own on the iPad Pro, since multiple players have to crowd around the same screen. Multi-player games aren’t so good on an iPad Mini, but they’re much more fun on an iPad Pro. The empire building gameplay has been faithfully recreated, and it’s one of the most social iPad board game experiences you’ll find.

Lego Jurassic World

The latest Lego outing for the iPad continues the traditions from before: Build stuff from Lego, break stuff made of Lego, and collect Lego studs. TT Games has only got better at dealing with mobile platforms, and the games don’t feel like lesser alternatives to their console brethren anymore. It’s fun, exciting, well-made, and has a great soundtrack. Where better to see Lego dinosaurs than on the iPad Pro’s big screen?

Game Dev Story

Game Dev Story iOS

Although it was released back in 2011, this classic, wonderful work sim from Kairosoft has recently been updated to make use of the iPad’s big screen. Version 2.0 is the one you want, which adds compatibility with the iPhone 6 and 6S’s screen as well. If you’ve never played Game Dev Story, or any of Kairosoft’s management games, then it’s all about building an amazing development team and making great games. It’s incredibly absorbing, and it’s easy to spend hours playing it.

This is the latest multiplayer strategy game that threatens to suck up all your time. Luckily, it won’t eat up all your money. This is a premium game with a pay-once price tag, that looks great on the big screen. It’s a game that needs time and effort though, and unlike some strategy games, it’s not all about who has the biggest army. Support a game that hasn’t gone down the freemium road, when it so easily could.
