What’s new on Netflix and what’s leaving in May 2016

May is just around the corner, which means a whole slew of new shows are soon coming to Netflix — and just as many are leaving. Sayonara, Anna Karenina.

Of course there are the tried-and-true film staples anchoring the May lineup. Pleasantville, Sixteen Candles, Bring It On, The Nutty Professor, and The Replacements are just a few of the throwbacks that will be available at your fingertips starting in May. To Catch a Thief, a 1955 classic starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, will also deliver a welcome dose of silver screen nostalgia.

As for Netflix originals, Chelsea Handler’s much-anticipated talk show will make its debut May 11, marking a first for the streamer-turned-network. The first installment of Chef’s Table season two will finally make its premiere on Big Red, as well, along with The Do-Over, the second of a four-film deal between Adam Sandler and Netflix. Lady Dynamite, featuring Comedian Maria Bamford, is also slotted for a May premiere.

Fans of the BBC’s Sherlock mini-series also have reason to get excited, as the forthcoming A Study in Sherlock will provide an in-depth look at the show and feature interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, and cast members.

Apparently, there’s also a Kindergarten Cop sequel set to arrive on May 17. Unfortunately, Arnold Schwarzenegger was presumably too busy dominating the free version of the Mobile Strike app to partake, leaving everyone’s favorite Mensa and MIT Fulbright Scholar, Dolph Lundgren, to play the lead. Bill Bellamy and Fiona Vroom also help round out a cast of nobodies.
