Team SoloMid wins the 'League of Legends' NA LCS Summer championship

TORONTO — Team SoloMid defeated Cloud9 at the North American League of Legends Championship Series Summer Finals, taking first place in North America and automatically qualifying for the 2016 World Championships.

TSM took a 3-1 victory against Cloud9 in a best-of-five series at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto Sunday.

Here are some of the best plays from the series:

Cloud9 got the first blood and ended up with a 2-1 lead early in the first game, earning them a decent lead against TSM. They took that advantage and went on the attack: Cloud9's Impact moved in on TSM's Hauntzer in the top lane, forcing Hauntzer to use a flash and retreat back to the fountain. Meanwhile, C9's Sneaky and Smoothie pushed mid, leading Sneaky to nab a double kill.

All five of TSM's players moved in on Cloud9's bottom turret, hoping to take it without much trouble. Four Cloud9 players fought back, nearly taking out Hauntzer and quickly finding themselves in trouble. C9's Smoothie and Meteos barely made it out with their lives.

TSM started to beat back Cloud9 after C9 advanced on their base, eventually chasing them down the mid lane to try and get some kills. TSM grabbed two kills but pushed too far, losing two of their own before retreating.

Cloud9 chased TSM all the way back to their base, taking out Biofrost but losing Jensen to make it an even 3-3 team fight.

Cloud9 had a decent advantage and went in for the kill, beating back TSM in their own base, taking out the nexus turrets while grabbing kills and burning down the nexus. Cloud9 took the first game of the series.

TSM got the first blood of game two, setting them up for a strong first half. Around 12 minutes in, TSM pushed mid against Cloud9, trading a Jensen kill for Meteos, then chasing down Impact for the second kill. TSM had a 3,000 gold advantage after that, allowing them to easily take two more kills and start their snowball to victory.

After losing a team fight, Cloud9 went in for an ill-advised attack on TSM. TSM used their advantage well, grabbing a kill and chasing down the retreating remnants of C9. Smoothie was in Doublelift's sights and went down to an amazing series of shots. TSM kept the advantage, won a few more team fights and took game two.

Game three started out even for the two teams until TSM pulled out ahead, whittling away Cloud9 for another win to put the series 2-1. TSM went into game four with the match point.

TSM came out strong in game four, getting a pretty decent advantage. After winning multiple fights, Cloud9 suddenly came back, wiping TSM to take the lead. TSM wasn't going down easy; they came back with a Baron kill and wiped Cloud9 twice, winning the final game after an intense series.

Team SoloMid took first place in the League of Legends NALCS Summer Playoffs, qualifying them for a spot in the World Championships next to North American championship point leader Counter Logic Gaming.
