Irish football fans are making hilarious Wikipedia edits to their star player's page

LONDON — "Robert 'The Messiah' Brady." "Robert 'Jesus Christ' Brady." "Robert 'Get in there you beautiful beautiful bastard' Brady" — these are just some of the things Irish footballer Robert Brady's Wikipedia page was changed to Tuesday night, after he scored a late winner against Italy in the Euro 2016 football tournament.

Brady scored in the 85th minute to put Ireland 1-0 up, thereby securing his country a place in the final 16 of the competition. Needless to say, he instantly became the most popular person in Ireland.

For anyone who happened to visit his Wikipedia page between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and midnight last night, this would have been immediately apparent.

In the two hours after the game against Italy finished, Brady's Wikipedia page was edited around 100 times.

Sadly, no matter how gloriously persistent the fans were, the moderators kept changing the edits back.

Still, it was fun while it lasted.
