Kanye West caused chaos in New York City with a surprise show that never happened

A wild Kanye appearance is a sure way to create chaos.

Terrible weather forced the cancellation of the third day of the Governor's Ball in New York City on Sunday, which included Kanye West's headline show at the event.

Meanwhile, nearby festival Hot 97 Summer Jam was forced to close one of its stages, canceling sets from Chance the Rapper among others. The main stage was left open, however, with Big Sean, Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg and DJ Khaled set to perform.

Somehow along the line a crazy idea came to fruition: What if Kanye West performed at the Summer Jam too? It's a plan that certainly 2 Chainz helped spread, telling followers that there will be "G.O.O.D. Music" played at Webster Hall at 2 a.m.

While an Instagram photo by West's creative director Virgil Abloh showed a setlist with the caption of the photo as "summer jam now. **PABLO - Webster Hall." The previous caption was "we're doing PABLO at 2 am in Manhattan. sorting out where now," according to Pitchfork.

Although the supposed show was announced as sold out on Kanye West's Twitter account shortly after, that certainly didn't stop thousands of fans rushing down early on a Monday morning to see if they could get a slice of the PABLO action.

West even tried to organise a block party (yes, at 2 a.m. on a Monday morning), attempting to get in contact with the mayor of New York City to let him do so, according to Kim Kardashian's Snapchat account.

To the disappointment of fans, Webster Hall's Twitter account put out the news that there would be "no late show" tonight, asking people to get home safely. Announcements were made to the crowd too.

After all that, at 2:45 a.m. Kanye did turn up. He was spotted standing in the sunroof of a car as it drove down 3rd Avenue in the East Village, as crazy fans attempted to chase him down. A certain way to create chaos, hey?
