The book has already run out of stock in the Blizzard Gear Store. You can still get it on Amazon, where it's also on discount.

World of Warcraft: Illidan doesn't really provide any connection to the events of the upcoming expansion, Legion. Instead, it begins with Illidan's first imprisonment after the events of the War of the Ancients and spans until Illidan's defeat by the heroes of Azeroth at the Black Temple.

The story basically retells the events of the Burning Crusade with Illidan's perspective, thus explaining a lot of things that didn't make sense back then. We also get viewpoint chapters for Maiev Shadowsong and Akama. The ending of the book has Illidan witness a very surprising vision. We won't spoil anything, but it can definitely be linked with the new arch-villains - the creatures that are presumably far worse than the Burning Legion - from World of Warcraft: Chronicle vol. 1. This vision might serve as a hint of what might unfold during Legion.

To sum up, the novel paves the way for Illidan's inevitable redemption story in Legion.
