You know those smoke-alien-things that you're stranded on a space station with in Prey? It turns out humanity has been secretly dealing with them for the better part of a century in Prey's alternate history, and there's a very good reason for them overrunning your space station: it's their prison. Or at least it used to be.
I'm a sucker for Cold War sci-fi so this new in-universe history lesson from Bethesda and Arkane is pushing all of my buttons. And I'm always up for heavy handed symbolism - they'd better not think for a second that I missed how the containment satellite was basically a giant floating cross before it was rebuilt into Talos I. That's some End of Evangelion-level stuff right there.
