And now, a PS Plus PSA: your Sony subscription is about to get more expensive

If you plan on having PS Plus for the remainder of 2016 and beyond, you might want to re-budget your finances. Subscribers in the US and Canada will see their prices rise starting September 22, the PlayStation Blog confirmed today. This is the first time the service has seen a jump in prices since its introduction in 2010.

The new prices are $59.99 USD / $69.99 CAD for a 12-month subscription and $24.99 USD / $29.99 CAD for a three-month plan. The monthly rate will change to $11.99 CAD in Canada, and remain $9.99 USD in the U.S.

If your current plan ends on September 22 or after, you'll be subject to the new price. However, if I may make a suggestion, you can save some money long-term by purchasing pre-paid cards at the current price and using them instead of relying on an auto-renewing charge to your credit card. I know that's what I'll be doing today.
